  as sgt pepper sang, "it was 20 years ago today" ... that i made my first post on my first forum.. i obviously didn't put too much thought into what it should say although i must have burned 45 posts testing things and was too lazy to reset the counter before going live (?):.

  COVID-19 another example showing local publishers/congregations are on their own?

  my area is a large city spread across two u.s. states and multiple different cities and counties.

  the area of 2.5 million is covered by parts of 4-5 different circuits.

  many of those attending meetings are at-risk individuals with health problems or age related risk.

  Who says they aren't doing this and what evidence is there? I can see having a specific personal beef with the JW's or not agreeing with their doctrine but it seems like people just make assumptions about anything they want to and run with them without providing proof or examples of what they are claiming.

  I do! I live in a city of 600,000, I have family who are in the centre of this. I am not making assumptions, I am simply observing what is going on. I know that the elder’s meetings have simply been about how to provide on line meetings twice a week. This is nothing to do with doctrine but simply skewed priorities.

  What should they be doing in your opinion?

  WT has acres of glittering studio space and equipment. They should set up meetings in appropriate languages using bethelites for congregation elders to stream. This should not be left to local people with dubious skills and camera phones.

  The local elders should be providing pastoral care and practical assistance whilst keeping themselves safe.

  I don't care whether they get meetings or not. I do care that the congregations are putting running around trying to be amateur tv directors embarrassing. Members of the congregations have spent often many decades confident in a cosy divine embrace in times of adversity. What do they actually get?

  How was it possible that some members fall asleep or nod off during meetings?

  a while back, we had a saturday wedding reception for a brother and sister from our kingdom hall.

  the reception ended at midnight.

  most of us got home at around 1:00 a.m. our sunday public talk meeting started at 9:30 a.m. .

  My uncle was chairman during a circuit assembly public talk in the days when he sat on the platform all the way through, an hours length back then. During the whole hour his chin dropped to his chest as he swayed on his chair. The whole audience, maybe 800-1000 people were riveted to this drama. How many were listening?

  Now I have a permanent bruise in my side that just fits my wife's elbow as I snooze..

  The one good thing about the virus where we are, all meetings... cancelled.

  A spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he had received a letter from the Russian side which would be formally answered “in due course.”

  Sounds like a strident half-hearted call to me. It would get me excited to turn over in bed.
